What Happens After You Contact Valepine in Oshkosh, WI

Four steps, one contact. Valepine prepares the request; a lending partner underwrites it; you decide whether to accept.

In short

Valepine Business Capital, a small-business funding broker in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, works in four steps: a first call about what the money must pay for, a match to one of six structures, review by a lending partner that offers that structure, and your decision on any offer. Partners underwrite, set rates and terms, and may decline.

Step 1: the first call

We ask what the money pays for, when the cost lands, and how the business expects to cover repayment. We also ask what you already owe and whether anything is pledged as collateral. No application is filed at this stage.

If the need is one Valepine does not handle, such as a personal loan, a mortgage, an agricultural or trucking request, or an SBA-backed loan, we say so on that call.

Step 2: matching a structure

The cost and its timing point to a structure: working capital for a one-off gap, a line of credit for recurring ones, a term loan for a defined project, inventory financing for stock, equipment financing for machines, or a merchant cash advance, which is not a loan.

We then list the records partners for that structure usually request, so you can gather them once.

Step 3: underwriting by a lending partner

This is the commercial loan underwriting process, and it belongs to the partner. Most partners review some combination of:

  • Recent business bank statements
  • How long the business has run and where revenue is heading
  • Existing debt and UCC filings
  • Owner credit history
  • For bigger requests, tax returns or financial statements
  • Collateral, and whether a personal guarantee is required

The partner may ask follow-up questions, request more documents, make an offer, or decline. Valepine does not approve, price or fund anything.

Step 4: weighing any offer, then your decision

Offers come in different units. A loan is priced with an interest rate or an APR; a merchant cash advance with a factor rate. The fairest common measure is total cost in dollars over the expected period, alongside the payment frequency.

What to put side by side
ItemWhy it matters
Total amount to be repaid or collectedThe plainest measure of cost
Payment frequencyDaily or weekly debits strain cash differently from monthly ones
Charges deducted at fundingThey reduce what actually reaches your account
Early payoff termsWhether paying sooner saves anything
Collateral and guaranteesWhat is at risk if things go wrong

Saying no is a legitimate outcome. Our broker disclosures set out what Valepine does and does not do.

Warning signs, whoever makes the offer

  • Pressure to sign the same day, or before you have read the whole agreement
  • An agreement whose collateral or guarantee section nobody will show you
  • An offer that does not state the total cost or calls an MCA a loan
  • Promises of approval before anyone has reviewed the business

If you see these from anyone, slow down. More answers are on the owner questions page.
